Seasonal Flu

Posted on: 10/06/2011

Seasonal flu is a viral illness that presents with respiratory symptoms such as persistent cough, sore throat, runny nose and sudden onset of fever.  There can also be headache, muscle ache and fatigue.  The seasonal flu or "influenza" usually hits the Rochester area mid to late December.  Children with any wheezing, difficulty breathing, symptoms of dehydration or if they have any chronic condition that puts them at high risk should be seen.  Not everyone with flu related symptoms need to be seen by their physician but we encourage parents to call with any questions or concerns.

PPG has an ample supply of both flumist and flu shots.  Please call 381-4848 to schedule a visit during one of our clinics.  We have availability for day, evering and weekend hours to try and accommodate most families busy schedules.

A reminder that PPG is open Monday-Thursday 7:30am-9:00pm and Friday 7:30am-7:00pm.  On Saturday the phone lines are open 9:00am-11:00am and Sunday 9:00am-10:30am for ill child visits.

Fall apple season is here...enjoy healthy nutrition and family fun by going apple picking at one of our local orchards.
